On Saturday, an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority was rushed to the Hospital at Surulere when he suddenly slumped while on duty.
He was initially taken to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital but they could not attend to him because of the on-going strike. They eventually took him to a Private hospital at Surulere where he did not respond to all the treatments given him before he gave up the ghost.
The deceased's colleagues lamented that it's so unfortunate that, as government workers they do not benefit from any insurance policy or hazard allowance.He was initially taken to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital but they could not attend to him because of the on-going strike. The LASTMA workers complained that the deceased might have collapsed due to stress as the work load has been so much since some workers were sacked last year.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu is yet to say anything about the incident.
