It was a sad experience at Ogolonto area of Ikorodu yesterday when armed robbers stormed the vicinity.
Normal daily activities were interupted by the gunshots of the robbers as every one ran for their dear lives at the sound of continous gunshots.
When the gang successfully gained access into the banking hall, a lady sat directly infront of the bank. It was gathered that she tied a charm around her neck and boasted that no police official could come close to her. This gave the robbers enough time to perfectly carry out their evil operation.
Some of the gunmen held everyone in the bank hostage as others were busy packing stack of cash. Witnesses confirmed that some of the armed robbers were in their early twenties, other sources said they were so scared to even look at them because guns were pointed at them as they lay flat on the floor.
The armed robbers had succeeded in operating for almost an hour when the policemen came to the rescue twenty minutes after the robbers were long gone.
An eyewitness described the incident as a war zone because gunshots filled the air for close to 30minutes, he said even the military officer found a hiding place for himself.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti assured the citizens that the robbers will not go scot free. He said the incident is their top priority as investigations are going on.
The command’s spokesperson DSP Kenneth Nwosu said N5m would be given to anybody, who could supply the police with valid details to assist in the arrest of the robbers.
