A 35 year old woman named Temitope Adebamiro has been charged with killing her husband; who she claimed abused and cheated on her with sevearal women including her sister and their nanny's daughter.
According to court records acquired by The News Journal and reported by delawareonline.com, her 37 year old husband Adeyinka Adebamiro was found stabbed in a spare bedroom of the couple's home in the 1300 block of Healy Court of Delaware State early Thursday. .
New Castle County police were called to the home around 12:40 am for an unknown problem but on their arrival, officers found the husband's body with a stab wound. The paramedics pronounced him dead at 1:37am according to Officer Tracey Duffy; the county police spokeswoman.
The victim, Temitope and their two children and their nanny had been living at the home for the past two years.
According to the police documents, the couple had been married for more than ten years, during which she told investigators that she had been physically abused even when she was pregnant with their two children.
Temitope also told investigators her husband had sent her to Nigeria for several months, after returning in December, she had to stay in a hotel near Philadelphia airport for four days because her husband had refused to let her into their Red Lion home. He then paid her to fly back to Nigeria for few more months. About this time she learnt that her husband had spent Christmas with their nanny's daughter. She also told investigators that her husband later flew to Nigeria and travelled back with her to Philadelphia. On showing her cameras inside their home over his cellphone, Temitope observed that the nanny's daughter had been inside her home. Temitope stated that she saw several texts and images on her husband's phone which she captured using her cellphone. Some of the pictures she took included images of her husband and the nanny's daughter.
As the investigations continued on the night of the killing, the police learnt that the couple had been talking and watching television on the couch at about 9pm Wednesday evening when Temitope and her husband began arguing after he began erasing the pictures she took after he discovered the photos on her cellphone.
Temitope told the police that as her husband yelled at her there was power outage at that time she went to the kitchen until power was restored. Temitope also told the police that when power was restored she found her husband on the first floor bedroom lying in bed and as she got closer to him, she saw a knife on the ground which she picked up and took to the kitchen. She stated that she noticed blood on the tip of the knife as she was about to put it away, that was when she realised that he was stabbed.
Court papers claimed that while she did not admit to killing her husband, Temitope changed her story several times about what happened in the bedroom including saying that she entered first and her husband followed her in with a knife but that he later dropped it and also suggesting that her husband stabbed himself.
The autopsy revealed that the homicide was caused by a single stab wound just below the victims neck, about 2 inches off the center line. The stab was 4 inches deep and severed the victim's carotid artery and jugular vein.
When police told Tomitope that this was not a suicide, the woman "began nodding her head in agreement" as revealed in court documents.
Temitope has been charged with first-degree murder and other charges, she has been arraigned and committed to Baylor Women's Correctional Institution where she is being held without bail.
