The smell of chocolate increases theta brain waves, which triggers relaxation.
The latest research, published in US journal Nature Neuroscience, shows a compound found in chocolate, cocoa flavonoids, can reverse the process of age-related memory loss. Other studies show the smell of chocolate increases theta brain waves, which triggers relaxation and suggest that eating dark chocolate every day can reduce the risk of heart disease by one third.

Dietitian Julie Dundon from Nutrition Professionals Australia backs the findings but calls for balance when it comes to chocolate consumption.
